“I am captivated by the fleeting moments of life: the beautiful flowers that only bloom for so long, the ever-changing landscapes, the children who grow so fast… moments that touched my heart or grabbed me with their beauty. Moments that we might have missed if we weren’t paying attention, or that might have been quickly forgotten. These are the things that I pay special attention to with my art, so that I can share them with you and remember.”
About the Artist
Francie Lewan is a representational artist working primarily in oils. She began painting as a child, spending her Saturdays following along with Bob Ross on television. Painting gradually grew into a passion, especially after spending time in various art galleries and museums while on family vacations. In college, Francie was inspired by art history courses and travels in Italy to take a more traditional approach to painting, and it was then that she began to develop her own style. Though she did take a few art courses along the way, she is primarily self-taught.
Francie participated for several years in the Wisconsin Regional Art Program, winning awards at both the local and state levels. She also won the commission for an 8×10 foot mural commemorating the sesquicentennial celebration for the village of Sauk City, WI.
Francie currently resides near Chattanooga, TN with her husband and two children.
